It’s that time of year again when snow sticks to the ground, the lights go up on the tree, a warm fire is lit and Santa comes to town, but let’s not forget some of the great events that also happen around this time of year, in particular Homenetmen London’s annual Christmas Fair!

On Saturday December 8th 2012, an empty hall was to be transformed into ‘Winter Wonderland’, an event full of festive cheer, laughter, games, family and enjoyment, and it certainly was! There were games for all ages, including both basketball and football tournaments, arts, crafts and Christmas card making for those with artistic talents, raffles & prizes, handcrafted gifts and paintings, mulled wine and mince pies and much more. As part of our scouts fundraising activities, the scouts leaders also took the time and effort to prepare their very own bake sale, in order to raise money for camping trips, and activities for the year, and hats off to all, the cakes were great! However the main attraction of the event goes without saying… Santa himself. Along with his elves he greeted all the guests & had a huge crowd waiting to take pictures with him.

The Parent’s Committee once again outdid themselves with great traditional Armenian dishes, cakes, and pastries and not to forget in true Homenetmen London style, the good old pirashkis! A very warm thank you to all those who took the time and effort in helping prepare these wonderful dishes.

But as always no event can happen without great planning, organisation and preparation beforehand. This year we were very lucky to have on board with us Rebecca Kouyoumjian, who brought her new ideas, her creative talent and together with Aline Abramian and Narbeh Minassian, who also had his team, Freddie Thaddeus, Vahe Boghosian and Anna Avekian, all collaborated and brought to life this wonderful and enjoyable event. Thank you to Ike Stepanian and Anais Ohanian also for coordinating and organising the bake sale, and a special thank you to all the scouts and leaders who helped run the games and stalls! Well done for your hard work and team effort!

In the same light, no event can be a success without the support of our members, friends and families. Thank you to all who came along and shared a great day with us. It was a true pleasure to see a lot of new faces as well as all those who have been supporting Homenetmen London throughout the years. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all, see you in 2013, and always remember – Be Prepared!
