The year 2013 started with a bang for the attendees of the New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance, hosted by our sister organisations: Armenian Relief Society, Homenetmen and Hamazkayin. – people celebrated the coming of the new year at Sheraton Skyline Hotel, London Heathrow.
The evening commenced with a short speech, given by Melanie Jacob, a member of the organising committee, after which the guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal. This was followed by a performance by Marten Yorgantz, who travelled from Paris to bring life to the event. The addition of his music simply heightened the sense of excitement and enthusiasm already present in the atmosphere.
As it became closer to midnight the anticipation for the New Year was building, and as the clock struck twelve, DJ Alex took over the stage and kept the majority of the guests dancing late into the night. The dance floor struggled to hold the throngs of Armenians across all age groups, all of whom were determined to dance the night away.
The night was spent, the drinks had been drained, and the music had finally stopped. As the evening came to a close, and the guests began to filter out of the hotel, it was clear that all who had attended had thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The beginning of a year is a momentous occasion, one that should be celebrated in style, amongst friends and family. There is no doubt that these requirements were fulfilled on this night. The tradition of the Armenian Dinner Dance on New Year’s Eve began in London under the sister organisations, and has continued for a number of years. Judging by the success of this year, the tradition will be carried on for many more years to come.
Congratulations to the organising committee for adding another huge success to the already wealthy bank of events under the belt of the sister organisations. We welcome the New Year with open arms, and may 2013 be another prosperous year for our community. Happy New Year to all! Շնորհաւոր Նոր Տարի:
