Christmas Donavajar

As the days shorten and we approach Christmas time, Homenetmen undertook its annual Christmas donavajar (fayre). Like previous years there were many stalls; not to mention a magnificent array of food, sweets and drinks available to buy, prepared by the loving hands of the Armenian women. The Scouts had their own stall also, selling a selection of delicious cakes and cookies. Also amongst the stalls was AYF’s, which included promoting their work and selling magnets made exclusively for the 123rd anniversary of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. Hamazkayin was there selling many useful Christmas presents, and so too were stalls by numerous other individuals. Several games stalls, face-painting and arts and crafts kept the children well entertained and enthused for the much awaited arrival of Santa Claus. When Father Christmas finally arrived he was greeted with joy and much jubilation, his grotto decorated with lights and tinsel that sparkled, making it a great backdrop for the photos taken. With lottery tickets sold prior to the event, during the event the lucky winners of the raffle were announced – the prizes ranged from designer products and well-made hampers to tickets to an upcoming show organised by the Armenian Relief Society.

Another cornerstone event in Homenetmen’s calendar has proven to be popular and there is no doubt this event will continue to be for years to come.
