In the year of Homenetmen London’s 35th anniversary, the annual garden party gave occasion to added celebration. A warm summer’s Sunday welcomed 350 people to Osterley Cricket Club, where a barbecue and several game stands kept the family occupied. New to this year, and in keeping with the celebratory atmosphere, a live band from France played throughout the afternoon, performing popular numbers with the usual Armenian musical flair.

There were speeches given by the head of the Homenetmen London Executive Committee, Armand Abramian, and esteemed guests, including Father Shnork and, on the behalf of the Armenian Community Council of Great Britain, Zorik Gasparian, all commenting on the longevity and familial bond of our organization. These speeches were followed by an expertly-executed marching routine from the Scouts, who proceeded to act out a series of performances; highlights of which were the Armenian dance routine and a mini-play depicting a typical year in the Armenian’s life that was delightfully performed by the youngest Scouts.

The day typified the essence of Homenetmen, who continue to bring the community together and pass on their values of unity and patriotism to the next generations. All being well, this generation will oversee the next 35 years of Homenetmen London’s success.
